Bill Callahan, a wonderful interview…

Bill Callahan, formerly of the Smog moniker, releases Apocalypse tomorrow (Drag City).  Like his first two albums as himself, Apocalypse is beautiful and dark and contemplative. Aside from being one of the most underrated and consistent songwriters of the last two decades, Callahan is a true artist and a thinker. Pitchfork interviewed the reclusive songwriter in 2007, and Quietus did last month as part of his newest album’s promotion. Aspiring songwriters, these are both must-reads that provide tremendous insight into the process and ideology of this complex man. Below is Apocalypse’s gorgeous closer, “One Fine Morning.”
