Something about this gloriously sunny day just doesn’t seem appropriate for debuting a Raekwon CD. I guess the album isn’t out till March 8, so maybe that date will give us the dark, cinematic weather with which I transport myself to whenever I listen to The Chef. Meteorological associations aside, on first listen Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang is a very solid record. Not nearly in the same category as Cuban Linx II, but a big step up from last year’s Ghostface and Method Man collaboration, Wu Massacre. And, Ghost’s influence is all over this album, so all in all it’s a lighter affair. So, because it’s such a beautiful day outside, I’ll leave you with the upbeat “From the Hills” while I continue spinning the album a few times more.
